Since today is Father’s day in Australia, Fat Mum Slim thought of putting up “Father” as today’s prompt in Photo a Day Challenge. Allow me to greet my father a happy Father’s day then although we are from the Philippines! Also, today is the second day of September’s Blog Photo Challenge under Curio‘s Hosting. This just means this year’s Blog Photo Challenge is nearing its end and will again start anew.
Instead of posting just the recent picture of my dad, I thought of posting photos of him from the 2008 to the present, when he was still fit and strong. The year 2008 is the biggest year of my life and my father played a big role that year for me as her daughter by giving me his blessing and walking me on the aisle on my wedding day. It was the year when I gave up his family name but it was not something to be sad about.
Family Gathering (House) 2008
The picture above was taken during our family gathering at parents house in Manukan the day before my wedding day. All our family and relatives on both sides were there. Dad was looking so handsome in this picture carrying our baby pet dog named Princess. He’s fond of dogs too.
New Year (Orchid Villas) 2009
This was taken on New Year’s Eve 2009 in my house in Orchid Villas. It was one of the happiest New Year’s Eves we’ve celebrated because we were complete as a family. It was funny looking at dad firing up those stick firecrackers. It brought out the kid in him.
Ordinary Day at Home 2010
Taken on one ordinary morning at home. Those were the days when mom and dad still eat breakfast together but their relationship was not quite good anymore. Mom’s nagging was always present and dad was just listening. Sigh! They ended up separated.
At My Apartment 2011
This was taken early in 2011 in my apartment. Dad was dressing these mudfish to dry and then grill after. It is one of his comfort foods I think for he was so happy when his friend brought about ten mud fish, fresh catch from a pond, just for him. He as well cooked a dish out of it, that dish with coconut milk…I can’t the name.
On His 53rd Birthday (2012)
And then few months after 2011, here he is now – thin and sickly. The above picture was taken on his 53rd birthday on August 20. His body fell quick due to his smoking and drinking habit. I am glad he managed to stop those bad habits for three months now. He’s been visiting health centers few times this year. Just three days ago, sister and I accompanied him to Agape health center here in Dipolog City and his new doctor is quite good. He feels a lot better now but still taking his prescribed medicines. He still needs to go back to his doctor though in two days for further check up.
